The weather seems to have gone crazy lately! We moved from low temperatures close to 0° to lows of 10°C (50°F) and highs around 20°C (68°F) in one week. As crazy as they are, these temperatures are typical for the month of May. Fortunately, the vines did not suffer from the sudden decrease in temperatures and we are easily 10 days ahead in vegetative development compared to an average vintage.
We are still binding the vines and pruning the olive trees. This year we are late with work in the vineyards even though we hired 15 seasonal workers, because the cellar is working full time, with a lot of workers, to prepare and ship the orders with our 2010 Brunello di Montalcino. 2010 was really a fantastic vintage and the world market went crazy to get some.
